Who Can Get TMS and Spravato Treatments?
Who Can Get TMS and SPRAVATO®?
Adults who haven’t had adequate relief with antidepressant medication may be candidates for TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)—which is FDA-cleared for major depressive disorder and, on certain systems, for OCD and anxious depression—and for SPRAVATO® (esketamine) nasal spray, which is FDA-approved for treatment-resistant depression (TRD) in adults. SPRAVATO® is administered only in a certified clinic under medical supervision with required monitoring.
What to Expect
TMS is noninvasive and requires no anesthesia—you can typically return to normal activities, including work and driving, after each session. The most common side effects are mild (for example, scalp discomfort or headache), and many people begin to notice changes over several weeks, though timelines vary. SPRAVATO® visits include observation for at least 2 hours; because it can cause sedation or dissociation, you’ll need a ride home and should not drive or operate machinery until the next day after a restful sleep.
